I love this. This is my go to classic red lip. Works so well with cat eye liner and dramatic lashes. Or just black tight lined eyes and bronzed cheeks for a more on trend look. This to me is the perfect red for fair skin with yellow undertones. Russian red is much better for those with cool undertones. On me Russian red looks dated and aging because it's just not as hip or as flattering on my skin tone. You have to get it right if you're going to rock a red lip. Go check it out.

How I loveloveLOVE a bold retro lip, and from MAC to boot! This colour is absolutely beautiful, a true blue-based RED.
My only issue with Ruby Woo is how dry it is. I find I need to check up on it as it's dryness can affect the inner corners of my lips.
I found if I have at it with my hairdryer on low for just a few seconds the application is a lot easier/smoother.
While MAC's "Strut Your Stuff" kissable lip colour was still being made I had always topped it with that to ensure it stays nice n' moist. Since SYS was limited (..:'(..) I now dab a bit of Russian Red lipglass on top.
Similar lippies that I very much like, by MAC, are: Russian Red, and MAC Red. They feel more moisturizing and don't have me worrying in the back of my head to check my lips often.

I bought this lipstick a couple of weeks ago, and I'm certainly glad that I did! This lipstick is a vivid red with a berry purple undertone if you look closely! Temptalia has some great, true to color swatches of this on her website and if you look at the picture of Ruby Woo swatched on her hand, you will see a purple undertone.. don't be scared! This lipstick can suit anyone whether you're fair-skinned, dark-skinned, have a yellow undertone or red undertone! Definite must-have and speaks 'girl power'

Love love love this lipstick. I wore it to dinner and a musical last night(Wicked). This stuff wore like a champ. It is a dry lipstick but I don't mind because it stays so well and I wouldn't wear it every day anyway. The color is a beautiful red. Instantly dresses up any outfit you wear. I will absolutely purchase again.

This was absolute LOVE at first application.
I was a bit hesitant to buy this at first because people said it felt drying on their lips,
and was a bit hard to apply,
but I haven't had that problem at all. I just put a thin cover of chapstick on my lips and then blot them with a towel first, and the application goes smoothly with a WONDERFUL matte effect. Yes, I'm a sucker for matte lipsticks, because I hate the feeling of sticky things on my lips, and this lipstick is about as matte as it gets.
But the real wonder of this lipstick is how well it wears. I was actually shocked when I grabbed a glass of water and there was no - I repeat NO lipstick mark on the glass after I'd taken a zip!
It wears like a champ, has the perfect red color and matte texture, so I am LOVING IT.
New hg for sure!

Note: If you are feeling anything less than fabulous, DO NOT
wear this lipstick!!! This lipstick is for when you are looking to be noticed because it will make both men and women stare at you! Ruby Woo, in my opinion, is THE best red lipstick out there! Beautiful blue based matte red. It's an unusually dry lippie so please exfoliate lips before wearing. I love to wear RW with my hair pulled backed, cheeks highligted, and neural eyes with an extra coat of mascara :-)

Soooo Ruby Woo is my new BFF. Like seriously. Pretty much sh*ts on all other red matte lipsticks I've tried & I'm as happy as I could be. This is the only true matte MAC has aside from Moxie which they did away with (really y'all??). Russian Red is fantastic but I reallyyyy like the pinup-girl-of-the-50's look I get with this. Make sure to put a good primer or balm down before applying or this will dry your lips up & get stuck in all the creases. Have fun!!! continued >>

Ruby Woo I looooooove YOU! What can I say that hasn't been said before????!? It's a beautiful shade that transports you to another era, when glamour was key to everyday dressing. I purchased this in Vegas and had to wear it right away. I got stopped so many times and was asked what lipstick I was wearing (I also got stopped when wearing Rebel, another MAC favorite), you'd think I was on their payroll. On me the color is a beautiful red/coral on me, not to orangy. This is defitnetly more on the orange based reds than a blue based. The formula is a bit drying, but I wear it with the MAC lip prep + prime and it feels just fine on my lips. The staying power is amazing on this lipstick as well. Again, Ruby Woo I love you!

I cannot deny that I love the colour of this lipstick. I’m a huge red lipstick lover (especially mattes) and thought that id found my perfect red however for me the formulation lets it down. I understood when I brought Ruby Woo that it was a Retro Matte; however I couldn’t believe just how dry it actually is. I did actually wonder whether I had a bad tube but after testing I found out all are the same. I find the colour very hard to actually evenly get a coat of this on my lips even after trying with brushes, the tube and even my fingers. I seem to find that as I apply the colour either streaks, rubs away or creates a chalky uneven faded red looking finish. I do wear this lipstick it just takes ages to apply to the point it looks nice. All in all I would not repurchase. Love the colour not the formula!

I wouldn't buy this lipstick again because it's extremely dry on my lips. The color's more subdued / darker than Russian Red. The lipstick applies very smoothly and stays in place.

Ah Ruby Woo, how I adore thee. The most vibrant red lipstick I own in my collection. It's a bold cherry red with blue undertones- yet somehow, it manages to remain red on my lips, without a trace of fuchsia, as so many red lipsticks tend to do. It is in the Retro Matte formula, which translates to DRY. But here is how to get it to work perfectly:

1. Exfoliate your lips prior to applying it. I like to use a towel to gently rub the dead skin off when I'm fresh out of the shower.
2. Apply lip balm and let it soak in about 80%.
3. Apply a matching lip liner. I like MAC Cherry.
4. Use a lip brush to fill in your lips with Ruby Woo, blot with a tissue, then apply again for vibrant, long-lasting color.

The best thing about this is that the matte texture will ensure that it won't rub off easily, and there is no feathering throughout the day. Russian Red is a comparable color, but it is slightly less blue-based and darker. It gives off more of a "smoldering vixen" vibe, while Ruby Woo is more of a vibrant, pin-up red. In my opinion, it's a must-have for any gal who can never have enough reds in her collection!

The best RED ever! I love red lipsticks, and I am always looking for a better red, believe me, I have them all, Dragon Girl by Nars, Pome-Granate by BITE, Fiery by Tarte, MAC Red, Russian Red by MAC to name a few. I get compliments when I wear them, but by far the most compliments I receive are when I wear Ruby Woo. I love the color, long lasting, I do no find it drying at all. I am a MAC fan. In case, MAC stops making Ruby Woo (I doubt it) I have several Ruby Woo's, when I love a color, I buy triplicates!

I LOVE this lippie! Every time I go out I get compliments on it! The color, I feel, is universally flattering and yes drying but it is a Mac lipstick and I feel the gorgeous color payoff is worth it. Just make sure to exfoliate and apply balm then primer before application. The only other thing needed to carry this color is a healthy dose of confidence and a smile!

I've tried many matte lipsticks and I can honestly say Ruby Woo is the best one of all. Yes, it's drying, but that's kind of what you expect with a mat lipstick. I use lipbalm 5min before I apply the lipstick and I don't feel my lips chapped or dry at all. It stays on FOREVER! And when I kiss my boyfriend I don't see a red stain in his cheek anymore.
Ruby Woo it's a great red lipstick and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes longwearing lipsticka that give you that 40s/50s look.

I have Russian Red, but wanted something a little more muted. This takes some getting used to. I had to get lip liner so it would not feather. But that is because I am over 40. Also, you need to moisturize before applying.
RW is a blue red. Matte. Long lasting and well pigmented.

Disappointed by Ruby Woo. My first red MAC lippie.
After buying this, I realised MAC had changed it's description of this from 'blue-toned' to 'orange'... Does this mean the formula changed too? Well, I bought it thinking it would suit my fair, neutral toned skin. It doesn't.
And it goes with out saying that you shouldn't even consider using this unless your lips are in top-top, moisturised condition.
I'm going to continue using this as a lip stain until it runs out (or, with a darker blue based red lipgloss over top), until I can afford MAC's 'MAC Red' or 'Russian Red'..

Awesome colour. It look intimidating in the case, but I love it. It was my first red purchase...I was afraid of colour for a long time lol. I am a very dark chocolate skintone. MAC NW50/55, N9, with red undertones. so finding colours that complement me well can be very tricky. I love how this red is so buildable and has cool undertones. It can be a sheer wash of red or an intense punch of colour. Fabulous for day or night.

Out of the hundreds of red lipsticks in my collection, this is by far the best. I favour mattes when it comes to reds, so this was a must-have. One of the first things I noticed about Ruby Woo is the amazing smell (it smells like cake!) and it's my first MAC lipstick so I'm not sure if they all smell this great. Then I noted how matte is really is. It's almost dry, so it's very important to apply lip balm/a treatment and allow that to absorb beforehand. I have cool, fair skin so picking out the perfect red lipstick can be tricky, but it suits my skin tone perfectly. This is my HG red lippy!

This is really a universal red lipstick. It's just VERY bright so you have to be able to hold your head up high and stare people down when you wear it because they DO look at you (and comment-positively).
It's a very drying lipstick but if you wear balm under it then apply lip liner and THEN apply Ruby Woo. You should be okay. I look great in it (not being conceited) and im a medium fair skin with yellow undertones. Some reds turn orange looking on me or make me look darker (which I hate because I look green-_-). For women with porcelain skin this lipstick will really POP RED on you but you will look PALE. just use a peachy blush for some color (I love looking pale if you do to than get this lipstick! haha)
Don't think about reapplying throughout the day though. You have to wipe it off and start all over (balm-liner-lipstick) not lipstick on old lipstick. It dries up after a few hours that it the new application will not glide on.
BUT you do not need to reapply at all unless you eat something greasy with this lipstick. Ill eat some meals carefully (in little pieces) and my lipstick stays flawless. Friends always ask me how I keep my lipstick so perfect all day. Well it's a mixture of the crazy staying power of Ruby Woo and eating carefully. Once it's fully dry it will NOT come off on cups you drink from AT ALL. And it does NOT fade away through out the day! I've worn it without lip liner and its still SUPER opaque and DOES NOT BLEED.
All around the perfect matte durable universal red lipstick.
