I was so excited to buy this hair iron. I had heard such great things. I went down to the beauty supply store and splurged like crazy to get this iron. I brought it home and after using it every other day for about 2 weeks it completely burned out. It wouldn't turn back on. I took it down to the store and they told me I need to ship it to the head quarters and get another one. So I did just that and I got a brand new one delivered to my house a few days later and the same thing happened! it wouldn't turn back on after I had straightened only hair my hair. I was so upset, because when it actually worked it was a great iron. I eventually gave up and turned to Chi and I love it, it does the same job as the Hai.

I looove HAI flat irons. My mom bought me my first one ten years ago when I was still in high school. Well, now I'm 25 and my hai finally died. I can't believe it lasted that long!! It still kind of works but when I plug it in the outlet, the light to turn it on flickers so it's not completely reliable anymore. This is by far the best flat iron I have ever used though. I have very thick, long blonde hair. It does not pull my hair or fry it. I always use a heat protectant spray before I use it though. I have tried my friends CHI and it doesn't even come close to the HAI! Plus, HAI's are cheaper than CHI. You can get them really cheap on beautybasicsupply.com. I just ordered my second HAI for only $54 plus I got free shipping and a free thermal mat. I got the 1 1/4" classic pro this time around. Don't fall into the CHI hype. They are cheap and break usually after a year or so. So if you want soft, silky hair that lasts til your next shampoo then buy a HAI. It will def last you a looong time!

my HG iron! i am currently using the CHI which doesnt glide as good as my HAI and doesnt give as much shine, Hai also has heat settings which chi doesnt. DEFINITELY worth the price. im waiting for my Chi to stop working to get me another HAI :}

Edit on 05/06/12: This flat iron is the equivalent of a drugstore flat iron. Over time it made my hair look lifeless and fried. And, it broke after 2 years! I won't buy another HAI flat iron again.
Edit on 03/17/11: I still like this flat iron, but I don't love it anymore. It dried out my hair over time and it doesn't heat up as much as it did before. For the price I paid, I expected a lot more.
I LOVE this flat iron! It used to take me forever to do my hair, but with this, 5 minutes max and I'm done. I love that it doesn't make my hair stick straight or take the body away from my hair. Its great. I've used to infamous Chi, and I like this better. Great deal, and I hope it lasts forever! continued >>

I expected more from this since I paid about $80. Unfortunately, it does not glide through my hair like many other reviewers have experienced. It snags in the middle of a lock of hair, making me have to tug it slightly, resulting in flat-iron kinks (not attractive). Plus, when I try to iron my bangs, it also doesn't glide and ends up awkwardly sticking up in all directions. Eh. Better than my cheapie $20 Revlon but still not worth $80... this one is going back. P.S. My hair is very fine, thick, naturally blonde highlighted blonder, and half-wavy.

I had never heard of this brand before, and I originally went to the salon to buy a T3.
The stylist showed me this one, because I have really long hair she reommended the 1 1/4 inch model. It has the same warranty as the T3, only a little less expensive.
I LOVE this. I usually curl my hair after drying it, and then let it do what it wants for the next couple of days before I wash it again, and this definately makes sure the curls stay!
It doesnt leave my hair frizzy, which used to be big problem for me when I would straighten my hair, not with this one! I'm SO glad she recommended this!

I love this flat iron! I have very thick, wavy (not the good kind) and VERY frizzy hair (you should see it after I blow dry it - it's HUGE and FRIZZY and soooo ugly) but this flat iron gets my hair so straight and smooth you would never guess how horrible it is! Check out my profile picture and you will see how amazingly straight I can get it. I almost always flat iron it, but every once in awhile I don't have time and people are amazed when I show them what a wavy frizzy mess it actually is because I get it so straight with this flat iron. My hair is getting a bit too long to do this now, but when it's a little shorter I can also curl my hair with this flat iron. I get a lovely lose wave which I prefer to a tight curl, which is what I usually get when I use an actual curling iron. I'm on my second iron (got it as a Christmas present). The first one which I bought about 5 years ago got dropped one too many times and the plates came lose and would pop out and dangle as one end was still attached inside. It was such a pain because if a plate came lose I'd have to pop it back inside before flattening any more hair because it wouldn't clamp down as tight if it wasn't in the correct place and the strip of hair wouldn't get as flat as it could be, and obviously I couldn't TOUCH the plate so I'd have to just clamp it together until it popped back in. I dropped that poor thing SO many times, and I am convinced that had I not done that I'd still be using the same flat iron as it still got just as hot as the day I bought it. Luckily my mom felt bad for me and bought me a new one which hopefully I can avoid dropping now that I'm in a new place with a bigger bathroom! At approx $120 it's definitely not cheap but it's so worth it!

One word: AMAZING!! This flat iron is the single best gift I ever received at Christmas. Ok, that's exaggerating, but it seriously is the best flat iron I have ever used, better than CHI! It always tears through my slightly coarse, thick hair like it's nobody's business. Heats up to 400 degrees, and never leaves those horribly tacky crimps that bad irons leave. Plus it doesn't make hair stick-straight, and my hair still moves perfectly. Seriously, BUY THIS.

Absolutely Great! This is the first flat iron I have purchased and hopefully my last! Okay this probably won't last me forever but I have had it for a long time and I love it!
First and foremost I purchased this to curl my hair and straighten it as well, I already have super slick straight hair but for that more defined polished look I definatley needed a good flat iron.
What I love most is the size, the size is about an inch which means you can curl, crimp and style however you can!
Whats funny is I kinda got frusterated learning how to curl my hair and so I started kind of doing a weird half like wavy style which I can no longer do as I have perfected the curl. Thats too bad because I really liked that half wavy look and I got compliments.
The plates itself are great, they are smooth they don't snag your hair they really are a nice pair of plates. The adjustable setting is great too going from a low temperature to a high one, I believe I do most of my styling at 240 degrees or so but it can go higher!
The swivel cord is the best! I love how it doesn't tangle or wrap around anything but it stays perfect.
I love this flat iron and I hope it stays with me for a long time!

WARNING: Do NOT try to use a foreign adapter with this. Although I checked the Voltage limits of both my US to UK adapters and it should have worked, both times I've tried to use it it kind of exploded (the second time because I thought it was the adapter's fault and I wanted to see if the HAI was broken), and I got a power surge so badly it automatically turned off power to my room.
I've used this straightener in America for about 3 or 4 years. It still works well, and the plates aren't worn. However, if you are travelling to Europe do not bring it with you. For the $100+ I paid for it that is really unacceptable. I'm not sure if it's permanently broken and I won't be able to find out until I go back home in a few months. :( That's why I gave it a 3.
If any British people have a recommendation for a good straightener I can get here please PM me.

i had been using cheap-o flat irons for years. basically because i only used the flat iron every so often. lately though i have been liking the straight look and i decided that i should invest in something better than something from walmart. after reading reviews here i decided on this iron and i LOVE it. affordable, heats in mere seconds and just like other ladies have commented it actually makes your hair have a natural smooth / flat look to it but adds volume. i love it.

Wow! I am sooo glad I bought this. I was debating between this one and the Chi Turbo and this had MUCH better reviews so I went with this one. It heats up really fast and it only takes one swipe over the hair and it is straightened. It is nice too because it makes your hair straight but not FLAT like some irons. I can get a nice volume at the roots. You can also use this iron to make waves. My hair is kinda short now so I wouldn't work that well on me...I got mine of EBAY for $65 and would gladly pay double for this iron. Makes you hair shiny and smooth looking, even better than BEFORE you straighten! It you are debating on what iron to get, go for this one hands down!

This product does straighten hair, however, not as easily as I hoped it would. I have straight course hair. I had to really clamp down on the flat iron and pass the iron through my hair VERY slowly. It even adds some static (if I iron my hair quickly). Also, if I iron my hair quickly, it doesn't really straighten my hair, just adds static. So, to get this to work, clamp iron down strongly, pass through the hair slowly, and run it through the hair as much as you can. I will admit that it does add some shine to your hair. Its not the best flat iron, but for the price it does its job ok.

I have this HAI Flat Iron for about 4 years now and it's still going strong! It is one of the amazing flat irons I have ever used. When I worked at a Salon, I've tried hundreds of different types of Flat Irons and always came back to good 'ol HAI. It makes my hair looks so sleek and shiny and healthy. I know it would never damage or burn my hair (been using for 4 years, I'd know if it killed me or not). Its now $85 around there, so cheap to buy...last a while...this Iron is the Goddess of all irons! :P

I LOVE this product! I purchased it on ebay after doing ALOT of research. I'm so glad I did. It leaves my hair soft and not PIN straight; it looks healthy. I can turn the ends in if I want to. It's so easy to use. I had my hairdresser use it on me and she was TOTALLY impressed! It was better then any she had ever used. She actually purchased one the next day.

Why is this getting such good reviews? o_O It sucks. I have coarse, wavy, asian hair and it fails to straighten it--it would revert back to its natural state after a few mins and when it is very humid outside. When I try to straighten my heat on the lower settings (about 250), it would not budge. I keep setting it higher and it would make my hair look fried and stick out all over the place (without using product). I'll be sticking to my sedu. No product needed and it makes my hair look very soft and stays straight throughout the day.

I've had my HAI for 3 1/2 coming up on 4 years now, and I've had NO problems with it whatsoever. It straightens amazingly, and keeps my hair very soft and NOT damaged.

I have tried many Sally and beauty store flat irons and non can come close to measuring up to the HAI convertable flat iron!
I purchased my HAI off ebay 7-years ago for $80 and it was by far the best investment I've made in any styling product! I raved about it so much that my step-mother and cousin went out an bought one! They love their HAI too! It's the bestflat iron out there, hands down!
PROS: adjustable temp setting, fast heating and cooling, and comfortable grip. AWESOME price!
CONS: Only con is sometimes my hair gets snagged in the plates.

I bought the Hai after considerable research following the demise of my Chi (my fault, spilled something on the plug unit). The Hai doesn't give me that "stick straight" look, but it leaves my hair beautifully soft and straight in a more natural way that I think is more flattering.
I also haven't noticed any damage from using the Hai, something I always worried about with the Chi. I'm not sure i liked that lank, "stick straight" look anyway -- my hair feels fuller and is in general much happier with the Hai.
