Recently, I have an allergic reaction and I had few red bumps all over my face. As I was doing my research I came into this product and gave it a try. I bought this in Walgreens and immediately tried it. It has a nasty smell but I can tolerate it. After a week of trying it I am blown away with the results! I have now a clear skin. I am using this as part of my daily routine. Tossed out my Olay toner. Iv noticed the my skin is more supple and smooth. Used to have oily face but now the only thing that is oily is just my nose, i just blot it.
Product description:
Active Ingredients: All Natural Witch Hazel: Alcohol 14%; Witch Hazel Extract
Our unique 100% natural formula gently removes excess oils, makeup and impurities from your skin without disturbing its natural moisture balance - leaving it soft, smooth and refreshed! The benefits of Witch Hazel: Gentle, non-drying; 100% all natural; cools and refreshes, dermatologist tested and recommended. No animal testing.
I highly recommend this product! Its cheap and very effective. The only thing that might bother you is the smell other than that its perfect for any kind of skin types.

IMPORTANT: people with rosacea should NOT use witch hazel - their skin tends to not respond well on it! Check this link:
http://www.skincarephysicians.com/rosaceanet/gentle_skin_care.html
Also, some people with VERY sensitive skin may have a reaction.
I DO have sensitive skin, but it can handle a couple of nights with this on and a good moisturizer on top - if I use it for longer, my skin dries out quite bad - the statement about not drying out skin is NOT TRUE.
.
I think this is really good for when I have inflammation I need to get rid of fast, when I have irritations or when my pores need cleaning and tightening - the results are lasting. My boyfriend often get a lot of inflammated pores when he shaves. This helped him a lot to get rid of the inflammation an soreness. Usually, this helps over night.
.
The smell of this is... ugh! Someone called he smell "old urine". Well, I don't know if it smells exactly like that, but definitely just as nasty. Luckily, the smell doesn't last on the skin.
.
I gave this a 4 not because of the smell though, but because of the alcohol. I know that it may be good for something, but it also does damage to the skin: breaks down collagen (makes you age faster) and can dry it out or unbalance it. At the same time, this reeeeally helps my skin. I know this can be found without the alcohol, and I will try it when I finish my giant bottle of this :P
.
I put up a picture for you to see how it works. Story behind picture: I was very tired and stressed out after a hard day and went to bed right after washing my face, without moisturizing. The next morning my skin was dry. The following day I broke out. I waited one one day, in hope that my skin would get better, but no. Then I put this product on over night, and in the morning my face was much better. Excuse my hyperpigmentation - I had pretty bad acne before, and then hormonal breakouts and my skin scars very easily. Also: the blemishes you see have not been scratched or picked at - they just are like that.

I'm on my second bottle of this stuff! Even though it smells like reeeally strong vodka (lol) it doesn't bother me too bad. It removes oil, doesn't feel sticky , and leaves my skin feeling clean. It's great for treating breakouts too. For the price, you can't go wrong!

This toner is awesome. Its cheap and effective. I was surprised how well it worked with my dry skin. It maintains the skin's natural moisture barrier without stripping it of it's natural oils. Only thing is it kind of smells like overproof rum lol. Get past the smell and its a great product!

Witch Hazel has been around for years and years. My mother used it. They should change the name; anything witch sounds bad. However I've used this for a long time on my oily skin. It works great at reducing the oil and refining your pores. I always use it after washing my face with a tea tree oil cleanser. I just apply it with a cotton pad avoiding the eye area. Then my face feels soft and super clean. I also like to use if if I've been doing something that has left a film of dirt and oil on my face like gardening. Cleans me up in a minute. Really good stuff. The smell isn't great, sort of like medicine, but nothing too bad. It's cheap too.

This has TRANSFORMED my skin. I have oily, uneven and acne-prone skin, and using this has eliminated all acne from my face. It's incredible. I now get compliments on my skin... the other day a coworker asked how I get my face to glow!
I don't use witch hazel straight from the bottle. Instead, I combine this with crushed aspirin, a few drops of tea tree oil and either green tea or water. I keep the mixture in an empty amber glass bottle (used to have vanilla extract in it) and shake it up before I pour it on a cotton pad and apply to my face. I use it twice a day, and follow with either aloe vera gel in the morning or jojoba oil at night. My skin is the healthiest it's ever been.
I bought this for about $5 at Rite Aid. It's a huge bottle and will probably last me about a year. Also, do not be alarmed by the alcohol content in the bottle. I used to avoid all alcohol-containing toners because I was so afraid it would dry out my face and cause my skin to over-produce oil. After using this, my skin is radiant and not oily at all. Before this product I was using Clinique Mild Clarifying Lotion... but not anymore! My homemade witch hazel tonic is cheap and effective. I am a convert for life.

So I wasn't satisfied with my Dermalogica Multi-Active toner that I decided to switch to something new. As I was browsing through MUA I found Dickinson's Witch Hazel, which is not only a best seller at my pharmacy but also my first toner back in high school. Now I couldn't exactly remember why I stopped using it back then but I thought, "Hey, it's cheap and its there, why not?". The first few nights I tried it I was in love! My pores felt tigher, my skin felt smoother, and my rosehip oil treatment and La Mer moisturizer were working better than before! Or so I thought... After one week of use I started noticing some dry patches on my face and it suddenly hit me just why I dropped the product in high school! It's incredibly drying (14% alcohol...duh) even for combination skin like mine. I'm not too sure what to do with this product because I really do believe it did my skin some good at the start. I might just use it once daily or every other day to see how this goes. If that doesn't help then I'm going back to MUA to look for more toners.

Ugh I wish I read the bad reviews more than the good when I purchased this product! I have very sensitive skin, and I had a problem with closed comedone acne on my cheeks and I was FINALLY starting to get rid of them because I was doing microdermabrasions and hydrafacials every 2 weeks. Then, read the good reviews for this toner and thought that it's all natural and it won't bother me and boy was I wrong! Two weeks into using this toner I noticed strange tiny bumps on my chin, didn't think anything of it and thought maybe it'll just go away, then couple of days ago noticed more and more tiny bumps forming on my cheeks! Now it's all over my cheeks like a full blown rash, a little tingly and itchy at times. All of my progress was for nothing because I just got pushed a million steps back and my hubby comes home soon from Afghanistan :(

I like using this for all kinds of things...it's an all purpose skin product. I only use on breakouts because I'm very dry, but once in a great while I will use all over my face...kind of like a purge. For those that can't deal with the smell, essential oils (IF YOU ARE NOT SENSITIVE TO THEM) can help. Just add a few drops. Rose is good for the skin, lavender, etc. Just don't use too much. You should barely be able to smell them. You can then customize your witch hazel for your specific skin type.

This product smells like what I would think warm, fermented, urine would smell like, but that's really the only con.
The smell goes away after a couple minutes anyway.
The packaging is straight forward and easy to use. My bottle cost $5 at the Walmart for a large amount.
Just in a couple hours of my first use, my skin was already healing. My acne spots from a massive hormonal breakout had turned flesh colored and looked flatter and less noticeable
The inflammation had been soothed.
I also used this on my sunburn and it helped take the burning sensation away.
I really recommend this product for it's healing abilities and because the results are almost instant.
Also this is great for dry skin. I have normal-dry skin and I don't need a moisturizer at all when I use this. It's very gentle.

The smell is horrible! That and the alcohol content almost had me give up before I put it on my skin. But it definitely helped with clearing out my clogged pores and for that, I'll go back again and again. However, it doesn't do a good job of closing the pores up, just cleaning them. Surprisingly, it didn't cause any problems for my sensitive skin.

Used for sun spots, witch hazel and lemon juice. I read about mixing these for sun spots a week ago and already my spots are fading. I have been using Obagi but this works much quicker and is def cheaper!! Witch hazel does make a great toner also.

Prettttttty sure this stuff gave me lots of little itchy bumps. I used it off and on over the past few months, and I remember back in late December after not using it for some time, I began to use it again (with a couple drops of tea tree oil) on my forehead, and I began to get little bumps. After noticing a few days of this, I stopped using it completely for about two to three weeks. I was breaking out BADLY during this whole time, so it was hard to tell what was and was not working, and so I tried this again, thinking it couldn't be witch hazel because I have used things with witch hazel in them before. So I started again, this time applying it to my whole face for around two months (mid January until mid March). My face eventually was pretty itchy very often, and I attributed this to the Johnson and Johnson Baby Wash that I had been using, since I had never used it before. Well, I quit that, used Dr. Bronner's which gave me even more bumps, but still I was using the witch hazel. I finally switched to Cetaphil and a diluted tea tree oil as toner, because I've used this combo in the past with no itchy weirdness, and two weeks later, my itchiness and little bumps subsided to an extent. I decided to use the witch hazel again, just on my forehead this time, and three days later, forehead was again covered in very small itchy bumps. So yeah, I'm surprised because like I said, I have used products containing witch hazel before, but seems this stuff just didn't work well with my skin for whatever reason. I never minded the smell, though.

This is pure genius. The smell was not pleasant at all but I found a way out. I use this with a cotton round and then I had some rosewater lying around so, I do a second round with that. amazing product. Next time I might buy the thayer's one with the rose petal.

This was just too drying for me to the point where my skin began flaking and I have oily skin. I just stopped using it, so I can't determine if it helped with my acne or not since it wasn't long enough.

why didnt i hear about this product sooner?!
i had a huge cyst one the side of my face from my mineral foundation and ive had it for at least 6 months and its huge and i was going to go to a doctor about it. i purchased this to use as a toner twice a day, i used the toner that night and by morning by cyst had shrank to half the size! its so much less noticeable and i feel that by a week it will be completely gone. i also usually get tiny acne, like little bumps under the skin which makes the texture of it actually really gross but after one use most of those bumps are completely gone! this is a miracle product and i will never try another toner again. the only down side is that the smell is so nauseating :( but for such a cheap price, huge quantity and amazing results, the awful smell is well worth it.

this is the first toner i have used on a regular basis and i love it for so many reasons. one: when im feeling lazy, which is often, it takes my makeup off wonderfully with no water. two: after i wash my face and use it, i rarely need moisturizer. i use it anyway, but i don't need it as much. three: i like the smell, oddly enough. and i love the way it feels going on. also, using it before my makeup in the morning seems to refresh my face and i don't have to wait at all. four: i haven't really broken out at all lately, which i sometimes do on occasion.
one of my new favorites. try it.

I love this. Although the smell is really off-putting and so is the 14% alcohol content, this really does improve my skin. It cleanses pores, leaves skin feeling refreshed, and makes skin appear more even-toned and radiant. I don't have any real issues with acne, but I do get 1 or 2 pimples around that time of the month, and this helps reduce the inflammation and redness they cause. I also notice that my pimples shrink in size and disappear quite quickly when I use this. Even better, I have dry skin, and this doesn't dry me out at all.

It's inexpensive and benefits all skin types in some way, so it's worth a buy.
