Like many people in need of a ped-egg type appliance I found this one truly impossible to a) open the package,
b) fit the bits together
c) awful instrument, no way is this thing any good to anyone with arthritic hands!

I initially first heard of this little gem from the television commercials. I must admit, I'm a sucker for things on t.v. that are advertised to make me look beautiful, in any capacity, even my feet. I purchased the pink ped egg at a local store. My feet are not particularly calloused or dry, but feet are just a part of the body that need to be thoroughly well cared for regularly. Who doesn't want really pretty feet? I find this product to be very effective at removing unnecessary dead skin from my feet. Even when I doubt there's enough dry skin there to be removed, this thing never fails to surprise me when I open it up and see the flakes. When I first bought it, I was dismayed by how light and cheap the material is. Very, very cheap plastic, not appealing, but I got over that once I realized it was doing a very good job anyway. My feet are now softer and the bottoms of my feet look younger, if that makes sense. I use it while giving myself my regular, at-home manicure/pedicure. I ALWAYS follow up with a thick, high quality shea butter based foot cream like L'occitane's. The result is absolute perfection, feet that glow! If I ever lost the one I have, I would surely replace it. Also, I payed $10, the full price, for this. Since then, I've seen Ped Eggs on sale for much less at stores like Ross and T.J. Maxx. Therefore, if you are looking to buy this, you can easily find it cheaper than the suggested retail price.

I used to love the Ped Egg---it was a great little gadget that actually did what it claimed to do. The only drawback was the fact that some of the replacement blades were dull. Well, something is wrong with the Ped Egg. Either they are cutting corners bigtime or have shipped the thing off to have it made in China, because it's become a piece of crap. I recently bought a new one, and it was as dull as a piece of cardboard. Actually, using a piece of cardboard would have gotten the same results----no skin gratings accumulated in the bottom of the thing because it was so dull. Also, the top cover didn't fit the blade cartridge correctly----it jammed in so tightly that it wouldn't come out. CVS let me exchange it for another one. The second one was, incredibly, just as dull as the first. It was absolutely useless. Even the emery pads took off more skin than the dull blade. The top cover and blade cartridge weren't too tight this time---instead they fit so loosely that they rattled around in my hand. I'm really sorry the Ped Egg has turned into such a piece of junk, because it worked, and I don't know of anything else to replace it.

I love this little tool! I don't have particularly calloused or rough feet but my heels are a little dry especially from work, being on my feet hours at a time. I've used the large emery boards for feet which seemed to help, but only as a temporary fix.. Admittedly I was sceptical I mean, it looks like a cheese grater haha.. But it does not hurt, or feel weird at all. It does an excellent job at removing dry skin, and then the smoothing side really polishes your at-home pedicure off. It's also quite convenient as the "gratings" go right into the container as you do it then you can empty it without having to touch the yucky stuff.
I've had mine for a couple years and have not noticed it getting duller. The price is quite decent, and I've even seen them at the Buck or Two stores, though I wouldn't personally buy one from there just in case ;) Anyways I would repurchase and recommend!

OMG this little device saved my feet. . .literally! After going to beaches and going camping, my feet were sooo bad! Up to the point where my husbands feet looked better than mine hahhahah! Eww I know. Ive been wanting to go to get a pedicure but couldnt find the time to & I was afraid that they wouldnt make it "as" nice. Sooo I was wondering around Walgreens and saw Ped Egg. I was skeptical at first and felt like it wouldnt work. Ive seen this so many times & for the first time I thought I should give it a try. It was like 10 bucks so its not that bad. Came home, read directions, and tried it out. I was scared to use it directly on my feet cuz its like a feet grater hahahhaha. But dont be scared, it doesnt cut you or anything. OMG after one use, my feet looked amaaazing! All that rough nasty gunk was gone and I put Vaseline on with socks and slept through the night with it. The next day, my feet were so soft and my new skin was right there! Its amaazing! I love this little thing & use it like twice a week for touch up! Looove this thing!! continued >>

This worked for me. I have atrocious feet. Callous, cracks, dry skin. I can use a foot file till the end of time and it barely makes a difference. I used this twice in 2 days, and I can see a major improvement. I still have a ways to go, but at least I can tell I've done something. I haven't had the problems others have mentioned here. Yes, my foot is rough after using the grater, but they are smooth after using the emery board side. I will continue to use this and hopefully one day I will have pretty feet!

This is my favorite non skincare/makeup beauty product. I have dry flaky heels thanks to my mom who unfortunately has it even worse than me. I had seen commercials on this before but didn't wanna buy it. When I saw it in the store I thought why not. The first time I used it I fell in love. I immediately recommended my mom this product and gave her mine. Originally I bought the one with the handle but I actually prefer without. I've already bought replacement blades and emery boards. It is not complete until you smooth it out with the emery board. I absolutely love the fact that they turn my disgusting looking heels into a smooth normal looking heel. I can finally stop being so self conscious when I wear my sandals! And not have my socks stuck to my heel! I use this every couple of weeks or days depending on how much time I have. Must have product for me.

This is an ugly product, but it works. I have the worst dry cracked heels, particularly in summer when I'm wearing ballet pumps and sandals. I actually get cracks which can go deep enough to draw blood. TMI sorry! But the point is that I have to really look after my heels because of it, and Ped Egg is what I use. I basically run over my heels with it before my morning shower and that's all it takes. The concept of the Ped Egg is gross- a cheese grater for feet- but its a simple idea that does the job very well and you can empty the manky shavings out afterwards. Just using this and a bit of foot cream works a treat.

I love the concept of this and I do think it works well, but for me, it takes too much time and effort. Maybe I'm spoiled, but for me, Bario Callus Remover blows this out of the water. It's mostly the same thing as a PedEgg, but it spins to take off the dead skin instead of grating cheese. It gets way more dead skin off, is quicker, and you don't end up with sore arms. I do really think that this is the best of the non-electronic callus removers, and that it's great if you need to quickly smooth your feet. The price is also great, as machines like the Bario cost around $50. All in all, I think it's something that is a novel concept and deserves recognition, but I believe there are better options out there.

This exfoliator is great. I love the ease and quickness it allows to have smooth feet. I'd definitely buy it again (and have).

I LOVE sawing away at my heels with this thing. I wish I remembered to use it more often because when i don't my heels develop these little cracks that I pick at and then end up with shamefully mangled feet. The kind of feet that you are afraid/ashamed to present for a pedicure at a nail salon because they look...diseased. And so the picking cycle continues.
That said, this little pedegg really helps me. In my darkest, fugliest most embarrassing foot hours the pedegg rescues me. As long as your feet are completely DRY and NOT MOISTURIZED at all this will saw right through the cracks, caverns, chasms and calluses of the most disgusting feet. If your feet are moist, damp or well hydrated you may end up trying to tip toe around on hamburger meat.
I always do this over top of a paper towel as the skin dust spills out if you don't keep it upright. I like to do multiple angles or my wrist gets tired. I can sit in front of the tv and mindlessly grind away for hours, but 10 mins per foot is all you really need. Maybe less depending on how bad/good your foot is looking.
After a session with this I magically have smooth, attractive feet that I don't have to hide from the public. And I get a really sick thrill out of seeing all the skin dust that collects inside the egg. The same kind of sick pleasure you get from using a biore pore strip or waxing.

This is the first foot exfoliating tool that I've found that works. And dumping it out is so satisfying! It takes off soo much dead skin!

This is a cheese grater for your feet. I have had good and bad with this and that depends on the person meaning are you trying to exfoliate to make your foot a little smoother? or do you have severely dry heels? I have used this and it worked wonders and made them smooth ,when your feet are not severely dry BUT if they are severely dry this will not help it can make them worse ,and I have learned through trial and error and I kept using it trying to get them smooth meanwhile I had dry heels. When I have dry heels a little baby oil on them in the shower seems to help now since I figured it out. This is a great product though I just think some people might not be aware if they have dry heels or not like I was. This is a good cleaver product,it truly is! But,only if dry heels isn't your problem. I Have bough a generic ped egg before also and it still got the job done also.

This product works great. My only complaint is that spilling the shavings is really easy to do if you hold the egg the wrong way.

I got this for Christmas, and I was a little more than hesitant to use it. I thought it would basically be like taking a cheese grater to my foot. Surprisingly, it isn't that bad to use. The first time I used it, though, I accidentally bumped it and the little foot shavings went flying everywhere. That was a little gross to clean up. But after a while it did make my feet softer.

For years my feet have been rough on the bottom with peeling, and my Ped Egg actually corrected these issues. This product removes dead skin like nothing I've ever tried. The list of tried products include exfoliating foot creams, OTC foot peels (Avon), Pumice stones, and foot files (with sandpaper-like exfoliating pads attached).
The only "complaint" is that there is still this one small rough patch that the Ped Egg has left behind after my many, many uses.
My cost was less than $6 (including the price of shipping), purchased from Amazon dot com. And I've been a user/happy customer for the past 4 months.
Things you should know:
Yes, you can overdo it. Use good judgement when exfoliating with this, because it does remove tons of protective (albeit dead) skin.
It's messy! I'd recommend doing your exfoliating over newspaper.
If you use it regularly, 2-3x a week (like me) you'll have to replace either the blades, or be prepared to get a new Egg.
Use on dry feet only, the directions say so, and your feet are more vulnerable to damage when wet.
Bottomline if you have dry, cracked, rough feet and have tried similar items to myself without any "real" improvement then this may be right for you.

I joked about wanting one of these after seeing it on TV and my sweet son bought me one for Mother's Day. It is a very average, cheap plasticky product....the buffing/filing part is like a little sandpaper thing that you stick on to the egg; then the smoothing part is like a tinny little cheesegrater.
Yes, it's true that the egg does hold the foot shavings/dust. BUT, be very careful HOW you hold that egg! If you tip it even a little, the stuff spills out of the holes all over your couch!!! It happened to me....
This is a cute gimmick, but it takes a long time to get results. This is like a "play" foot filer for little kids, IMO. (I notice most of the reviewers likin' it are the 19-24 group). I get much better results with my Bath And Body Works foot file...you can get down to business with that and get it over with in 3 messy minutes, vs. spending 30 minutes foofing away carefully on your sofa with the Ped Egg.

Love this!
I had problems using the callus razor that they use at the spa.. my hand slipped and it cut my pretty badly this one day.. it was awful - plus it took off too much skin and my feet felt very raw and painful!
After that, I swore to never touch my heels again, they werent even that bad and it wasnt worth the serious pain I was going through!
But then this past summer my heels looks dry from wearing flip flops so much and I needed to do something about it... I bought this and it works so well! It removed skin safely and evenly and Im not worried about it taking off too much..
Its also very easy to use since you just use it on dry skin.. and the egg catches the dead skins so theres no mess!

It does work. It makes my feet much smoother and softer, but only when I already take good care of them. It's just not what I was expecting. I feel like it takes of a few layers of dead skin, and stops very quickly. With that said, if you have really thick or serious callouses, try using a disposable razor to shave of the dead skin. Trust me it works 10000x better! The Ped Egg is considerable if you have no callouses and want a smoother texture. Won't buy it again; not a bad product, just not for me.

this product is great in the sense that it does the job that it was designed to do well and effectively. my problem areas on my feet are not calluses, they're dry and cracked (mostly because i wear sandals/flip&flips and go bare footed too often) and the ped egg helps to shave away all the excess loose skin that i have. once done i apply lotion to my feet, put on socks and my feet are baby smooth. the longevity of this product has well lasted me for about a year then it went pretty dull. Since then I bought the replacement refills which is 9.99 for three. continued >>
